This photo is one of the most powerful pictures that represent the Civil Rights Movement. During this time there was so much violence and mistreatment. If you were a person that supported the civil rights movement, you weren't safe. You couldn't be. This picture really speaks to me, and the reason for that is because of how much pain is seen on the man's face. Many people dealt with pain during this time whether is was physical or mental. There were people who tried to protest in peaceful ways, and were still beaten, bruised, and spat at. The disrespect is ridiculous, and learning about this time is difficult because of how viciously and savagely people were treated.

Side Note: I really do love these crash course videos. There is so much good information, and the creator (John Green) is very good at keeping the information interesting.
