1868- W.E.B. Du Bois was born on February 23 in Great Barrington, MA.
Even though he considered himself "mulatto," he went to school with white people. He was actually supported by his white professors.
1885-He moved to Nashville, TN to go to Fisk University. While he was there, he was first introduced to Jim Crow Laws, and he began to study the conflicts of racism.
1888- He received his bachelors degree, and then went to Harvard and got his masters.
1895- He became the first African American to earn a PhD from Harvard.
1899- Published his first study, "The Philadelphia Negro: A Social Study" which was the start of his writing career.
He also publicly opposed Booker T Washington's "Atlanta Compromise," criticizing him for not demanding African American equality.

Throughout his lifetime, he just wanted to expose the myths of racial inferiority, and he had many accomplishments. He even helped organize several Pan American Congresses to free African Colonies from European Countries. Overall he is a very important, influential individual.
